The Blanco Renaissance Museum is located about 1km west of the Ubud market. It's a collection of works by the Spanish artist Antonio Blanco who married a Balinese dancer and made Ubud his home until his death in 1999. Antonio Blanco was a flamboyant, eccentric character and always wore a beret. His studio and house is filled with expressionist-romantic styled paintings of mostly bare-breasted Balinese women. The museum, which was designed and built by Antonio Blanco himself, is set in superb grounds and housed in an unique building whose entrance is designed from his signature. Outside of the museum are the family's gardens where a range of birds are kept on display. They include lots of the very rare Bali starlings, parrots of all kinds, toucans and at least one bird of paradise.
